My cat died several years ago, and he STILL shows up in my dreams. Sometimes in the dream I'll be like "heh, wow, I thought you were dead!". Sometimes I'll realise he's dead later in the dream and he'll sortof extract himself from the dream (but not in a bad way, just a "yeah, I guess I am" way). But it has been impressing me just how long after his death a part of my mind sstill thinks of him in an "of course he's there" kind of way.
