Why is it that there are so many ways to get to Palmerston North? And do we need so many signs letting us know?

On the drive down to Wellington, I was quite supprised to find that we had to follow the signs to Palmy from Taupo...not Wellington. We had to follow these until we were only 150km out of the capital (only about 75km from it's satelite cities). Even then, we were given options to turn off to go to Palmy. WHY?

Maybe they're actually escape routes...or the hope is, that if we were invaded, the bad guys would be confused by the signage and decide that Palmerston North must be a very important place, and should be destroyed first...we can only hope.

We got into Palmerston North - South (aka Wellington) at about 0300, after getting stuck for way too long on the Auckland motorway, and then getting caught behind the most amazing array of traffic, including a house that took up both lanes of SH1. We saw 1 accident happen (nose to tail on the Southern motorway), and the aftermath of 2 accidents (a nose to tail to nose to tail on the north western motorway, and an articulated truck that had half tipped over - the back half had missed a corner and fallen over). Noone appeared to be injured in any of them though.

Fish is pissing me off a bit, but I expected that. He can be very antisocial at times, but just can't see what's wrong with what he's doing.

Tomorrow I get to meet my new niece.
