Feb. 24th, 2006 07:13 pmDay 1 of foundations of Ayurveda was really cool.
It seems that although I'd never heard of this discipline before i have studied it for years. I seemed to get the concepts far more easily than most of the class.
My time in the gender studies dept has also served me well, as I automatially question my conditioning and the connotations that I apply to words, so some of the concepts didn't get all tricky for me, unlike many others. The use of the words 'Nurturing' and 'reducing' to desribe the attributes of an element/herb/personality etc were quite an issue for many, and it seemed to come as a revelation that these 2 things didn't have to be viewed as good and bad, but more as neutral opposites, and both necessary for maintaining the balance.
I feel all smart and clever and stuff.
But my eyes hurt. I think I need glasses. Bugger.
Got to tidy the house now. I have an ex soming to stay with us...must learn to say no.
