I went to have lunch with Aaron today so I could give him money for the car repairs. We went to the mechanics to pick it up.

Mechanic tells us that yes the car is ready, and yes it has been ready for a week, but he hasn't got a bill written up so we can't pay for it...come back monday. WTF? They faxed Aaron a bill on Tuesday! We tell him this. We tell him we have the money now and we need the car over the weekend so no, Monday will not suit us. They've had the car for over 3 weeks and didn't bother telling us that it was ready for over a week.

We go back to Aaron's work to get faxed bill and bamk statements to prove that he'd paid some of it already (we assumed - correctly- that tey didn't have copies of the receipts either.

Go back to mechanics to pay the bill. He calculates the remaining bill...$1058.36 ($500 more than the original quote without consultation...but we knew this already), subtracts the $550 Aaron had paid 2 weeks ago (he paid some of it in advance coz he had the cash) and gets $528.38.

Aaron gives him a maths lesson.

The mechanic tries the calculator again (MS calculator, using the mouse) and kept forgetting to press the minus key. Eventually, he takes out word for it that we only owed $508.36 and charges us that.

Then we head downstairs to get the car. Aaron askes if they did the WOF like he asked. No, they hadn't. It expired on my birthday. They've had it since well before it was due, were asked to check it and didn't.
Aaron was going to get him to do the WOF, but I wasn't going to let the have any more of our money so said I'd take it for a WOF instead.

We told him that we weren't happy with the length of time it took to tell us that the car was ready, or that the extra charges weren't consulted on, or that they didn't have any billing and transaction records. I told him that they were lucky Aaron was so nice about all of this, because if it was just me they'd have to go to caught to get that extra cash, we didn't approve the extra repair charges so they shouldn't have gone ahead with those added repairs until we did, and we were unhappy that the ONLY extra we actually approved and directly asked for hadn't been done.

I get the impression they were diagnosing by trial and error.

I told him we wouldn't be back, ever. Aaron corrected me and said he'd only be back if they hadn't done their job properly. Aaron's wokr send their cars there for all of their servicing...not anymore.

This took so long that Aaron didnt get lunch.

I head to the testing station with promises of returning with McDs.

Testing station has 2/3 of staff away sick so all booked out. Next station has a 1 hour wait.

So I wait.

It fails. 2 Tires and stearing bushes.

I go back to the shop to give Aaron his lunch and tell him the bad news.

While I'm there a man comes in ranting about how he wants his bike serviced but he's told they can't do it today. "I bought this bike from you 3 months ago and have driven up from Taupo for it's service..."

Aaron's mechanic has also gone home sick, so he's in the workshop doing Alan's job. He's already told me he has to work late to catch up. tells the guy what's going on, no staff, booked out already. Guy won't have it. "I need the bike by Sunday, blah blah blah"

Aaron: "OK. I'll only have a 1 day weekend this week and come in tomorrow especially to do your bike"
Customer: "Oh no, I wasn't asking you to do that"
Aaron: "Yes you are. I've told you why it can't be done today. If you won't accept that, then that's what you're asking...Richard, book this gentleman's bike in for tomorrow"

The guy just left it at that.

I nearly went off at the guy. All I could think of was "YOU ARSEHOLE. YOUR STEALING THE ONE DAY I GET TO SPEND WITH MY BOYFRIEND BECAUSE YOU'RE TOO STUPID OR TOO LAZY TO CALL AND BOOK THE JOB BEFORE DRIVING HALF WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY! I HATE YOU AND HOPE YOU DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH"

I didn't. I'm trying to be less challenging. And I knew Aaron would suffer for it.

But I did leave the shop in tears...don't know if the wanker customer saw that though.

I'm getting the tires done tomorrow while Aaron's at work. Hopefully we can fix the bushes in the afternoon so Aaron can get it retested on Sunday morning.

I really needed to spend some quality time with Aaron this weekend. We won't get to now.
